Get quick answers to common questions about our ComplyStorm.
What is ComplyStorm?
ComplyStorm is a mobile SWPPP inspection software that helps construction and environmental teams conduct stormwater inspections, generate EPA-compliant reports, and manage compliance documentation from any phone or tablet. It was built by stormwater professionals with 20+ years of field experience.
What is SWPPP?
SWPPP stands for Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan. It is a site-specific written document required under the EPA's Clean Water Act for any construction site disturbing one or more acres of land. A SWPPP identifies potential sources of stormwater pollution and outlines the Best Management Practices (BMPs) used to prevent contaminated runoff from entering waterways.
Who needs a SWPPP inspection?
Any construction project disturbing one acre or more — or smaller sites that are part of a larger common plan of development — must comply with SWPPP requirements under the EPA's Construction General Permit (CGP) or the equivalent state permit. Most permits require weekly inspections plus inspections within 24 hours of qualifying rain events (typically 0.25 inches or more).
How often are SWPPP inspections required?
Inspection frequency depends on your permit, but most require:
Weekly routine inspections during active construction
Post-storm inspections within 24–72 hours of a qualifying rainfall event (typically ≥0.25")
Additional inspections after BMP installation or modification
ComplyStorm tracks weather automatically and helps ensure you never miss a required inspection window.
How is ComplyStorm different from other inspection apps?
Most construction inspection apps are general-purpose tools adapted for stormwater. ComplyStorm is purpose-built for SWPPP compliance only. That means:
Pre-loaded EPA Construction General Permit templates
Automatic weather and site data population
BMP-specific corrective action tracking
Reports prepared based on templates and formats proposed by applicable federal and state agencies
A workflow designed by people who've personally completed 1,000+ inspections
Does ComplyStorm work in my state?
We support SWPPP requirements in all states that fall directly under the EPA's Construction General Permit (CGP). Support for state-specific programs—such as California's CGP, Texas (TCEQ TXR150000), Florida, North Carolina, and Washington —is coming soon.
How much time does ComplyStorm save?
Early users report significantly faster inspections compared to paper- or spreadsheet-based workflows. Tasks that traditionally required extensive field time and manual reporting can now be completed through a more streamlined and efficient inspection process with ComplyStorm.
Is ComplyStorm EPA-compliant?
Yes. ComplyStorm reports are formatted to meet the EPA's Construction General Permit (CGP) requirements, including all required inspection elements: site information, weather data, BMP status, corrective actions, signatures, and certifications.
Do I need internet access to use ComplyStorm in the field?
ComplyStorm is mobile-first and designed to work in real construction conditions, including areas with poor signal.
How much does ComplyStorm cost?
ComplyStorm offers flexible pricing options depending on your organization’s needs and usage. For the most current pricing information, please refer to the Pricing section of our website.
